5 days desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, Details
Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi N’Ticheka Pass – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
The hotel is where you will be picked up. In our journey desert tour from Marrakech, we will travel through numerous small villages after leaving the red city. We will examine panoramic views as we approach Tizi N’Tichka’s highest pass. Most of the time, it is covered in snow during the winter. On its terraces, we will snap some photos. Before visiting the unique fortification site, we will continue our road to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah for lunch. UNESCO has registered it as a World Heritage Site. The village has served as a backdrop for many films, including The Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and even some scenes from the classic Game of Thrones. Seven families remain in the old village of Ait Ben Haddou; the rest have relocated to the other side of the valley, which is more modern. Ait Ben Haddou served as a rest stop for caravans traveling through the Ounila Valley. Either the merchants exchanged goods before returning to the desert to rest, or they continued to Marrakech. They traded salt, silver, and slaves. We will travel through some villages before reaching Ouarzazate. We will go to Taourirt’s lovely Kasbah and the cinema museum. Ouarzazate is a popular international filming location. As a result, international film production experts are being enlisted. We will spend the night in Ouarzazate.
Day 2: Kelaa M’Gouna – Valley of Roses – Dades Gorges – Boumalne – Tinghir – Todra Gorges
Kelaat M’Gouna will be our point of departure after breakfast and travel to Todra Gorges via Berber villages and thousands of collapsed Kasbahs. We will pass through the Rose Valley, which hosts an international rose festival, before deviating from the path and eventually taking a short break to learn about a nomad family and their culture. In short, we will have the opportunity to take photos at each unique point while we are following our enthusiastic adventure. If you go to the Dades Gorges, you can see the rock formations with their panoramic views that attract national and international visitors. Then we will go to Boumalne Dades for lunch and enjoy the view over there. We will also travel to Todra Gorges in the late afternoon to enjoy the breathtaking canyon views. The Kasbah Hotel will host dinner and the night at the end of the day.
Day 3: Todra Gorges – Tinjdad – Touroug – Erfoud – Erg Chebbi
You will stroll through the palm groves, and you will have enough time to uncover unique views of the Todra River. We will travel to Tinjdad, where we will visit some panoramic Kasbahs and entertain ourselves with lunch in a restaurant. Indeed, we will pass by some villages and towns, including El-Jarf and Touroug (a Berber village), before reaching Erfoud, which is a town of amazing fossils. Moreover, we will visit a nearby hobby store with a fossil theme. The intriguing Merzouga Dunes, also known as the Erg Chebbi Dunes, will be visited as you continue your journey. When you arrive at the hotel, get ready for an impeccable experience on a camel ride to the sunset location. Your dromedary will carry you to the Berber and luxury camps. Furthermore, you will spend the night in a typical nomad tent, have your dinner, and spend the night in the middle of the dunes, around the fire, with Berber music.
Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – N’Koub – Kasbah of Tamngalt – Agdz – Ouarzazate
To catch the sunrise on a Sahara Desert dune, our team will wake you up early. After sunrise, you will head back to Merzouga for breakfast. Following these breathtaking scenes, you will return to the hotel to take a shower while riding your camel. We will therefore travel through Rissani, Alnif, N’Koub, and Agdz on our way back to Ouarzazate. You will have enough time to stroll through the Rissani souk before heading to Alnif, the trilobite’s native habitat. For lunch, we will travel on to N’Koub. A stop will be made on the way to Agdez for a visit to the Kasbah of Tamngalt, which is located in the Draa Valley’s palm groves, as well as for the rest of our journey. To get to Ouarzazate, we must finally cross the Ait Saoun Mountains. In a hotel, we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 5: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
Following breakfast at the hotel, we can take in the numerous Kasbahs and the unique scenic features of each one. Then we proceed along a road lined with various Kasbahs of tourist interest. Our first stop in Ouarzazate will be the Kasbah of Taourirt, which was formerly the residence of the Glaoui or Marrakesh pasha. In addition, if you are interested, we can visit the film studios or the movie museum. We pass through the Tizi N’Ticheka mountain port on our way back to Marrakech, stopping occasionally to take pictures. We now leave the lunar landscape and come to another colorful viewpoint. Likewise, we will arrive in Marrakech either late in the day or early in the evening, and transfer you to your hotel. That will mark the end of our 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.
